5 Ways you Can Make Your Health & Fitness A Priority

Stuck. We have all been there. Stuck in a rut with no idea how to get back on track with our fitness and nutrition goals.  It is not a fun place as we desperately want to make changes. Rationally, you know what you need to do, but with an already overwhelming schedule, you aren’t sure how to get there.

Shifting your mindset when you are already feeling pretty unmotivated is a difficult task.  Dig deep and try these ideas listed below. One of them just might do the trick!

1 – (Re) De-fine your goals and your why.

Everyone has different reasons for working out, but most of them start on the inside. We aren’t comfortable where we are physically or mentally when we are out of shape.  Take an honest evaluation of where you are currently and remind yourself of the reasons you want and (probably more accurately) NEED to get healthy again.

2 – Block your schedule.

I hear the same excuse day after day after day. “I can’t workout because I don’t have enough time” or “I can’t eat healthy, it just takes too long.”

It is a matter of prioritizing and recognizing the importance of your health. Give yourself your own block of time. Mark it out on your calendar, in your phone or wherever you need to do so. Then do not allow yourself to break that commitment. After all, if you do not do this for yourself, no one will do it for you.

3 – Find your tribe.

It is no secret the like-minded stay together. Find a friend or a group of friends with the same goals. Make cardio dates, gym sessions and store outings your social time!

4 – Take a sanity break.

I get it – you are busy. you are rushed. But seriously, how productive are you in that mindset? Take a short break from the world to refresh. Read a book, take an extra long lunch hour, spend time alone to reset. Don’t underestimate the value of a mental download.

5 – Take charge.

This is your life and you create the outcome. Accept responsibility and realize that you are your own best advocate.  Accepting the idea that you “can” exercise versus you “ have to “ exercise. You can choose to eat healthy and aren’t forced to a life of fast foods and junk.

You have the ability to control your attitude and not let a life of defeat surround you.

See you in the gym!
